Kremlin Armoury

Kremlin Armoury (Moscow) – this building was the royal arsenal when it opened in 1508 (which housed both weapons, as well as the czars’ jewelry and household items). It became a museum in the 19th century, enriched with treasures taken from the Patriarch sacristy, Kremlin cathedrals, monasteries and private collections after the Russian revolution. In 1960, it became the official museum of the Kremlin. Nowadays, it houses various Russian, Eastern and Western European art collections, as well as rare jewelry items. The Armoury is perhaps best-known for its collection of 10 Fabergé eggs, as well as having the Imperial Crown of Russia, the ivory throne of Ivan the Terrible, and other thrones and regalia. Admission (Armoury Chamber): RUB 700 (adult), RUB 200 (children). See the Kremlin’s website for more info, including schedules for each area/exhibit: https://kreml.ru
